Born and raised in Kansas, I learned early on the value of hard work, self-reliance, and building things that last. I went on to attend the Virginia Military Institute, followed by 12 years of service in the Army National Guard. Those experiences shaped my commitment to discipline, attention to detail, and doing every job right the first time. During my service, I built a career as a licensed professional engineer, solving complex problems and bringing technical designs to life.

In 2023, I returned to my lifelong love of building beautiful things by diving into woodworking. What began as a creative outlet quickly became a passion for crafting furniture that combines timeless design, solid engineering principles, and the warmth of natural wood. Every piece I make is hand-selected, carefully joined, and finished to become more than just furniture—it’s meant to be passed down through generations.

At J Allen Woodworks, we specialize in American Made Heirloom Furniture. From my shop in Greenville, I create custom tables and other fine pieces that celebrate quality craftsmanship and American values.
